Development next to Battlefield Store approved
The Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors has approved Andora Oaks, a 150-home residential development proposed by Terra Dominion HP LLC on 56 acres between State Route 3 and Old Plank Road. The neighborhood, which will include sidewalks, asphalt trails, and two access points—one from Route 3 and another connecting to Ashleigh Park—required rezoning from rural to planned development housing. The vote followed a delay last month to address traffic concerns, including the need for a study and planned improvements at the Old Plank Road and Andora Drive intersection, where a roundabout is expected in 2027. Supervisors also discussed the project’s impact on already overcrowded schools, with some suggesting redistricting to manage capacity. Despite these concerns, the board approved the proposal in a 5–2 vote, with Chairman Jacob Lane and Supervisor Lori Hayes opposing it.
